Being a large fan of metal, paticularly extreme metal (black, death, thrash and doom), I can personally say that I do not hate other genres. Alot of the heavier music is actually highly influenced by other genres (such as punk rock, incorporated by bands such as Slayer and Metallica.) The only genres alot of metalheads hate are the ones that end with core, such as metalcore and deathcore, and that is only because these genres use a large amount of breakdowns to make their music more brutal, which is not metal at all, believe it or not. A large amount of metal is actually rather soothing and melodic, albeit highly aggressive.
