How To Remove Chatzum From Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer And A Machine?

To remove ChatZum from Windows XP/ Windows Vista/ Windows 7 machine:

1. Click windows START button
2. Select Setting /Control panel
3. Select “add remove programs”
4. Select ChatZum Toolbar
5. Select Uninstall

To remove ChatZum from Mozilla Firefox:

1. select tools
2. select options
3. select the general tab
4. select "manage add-ons"
5. select remove ChatZum

To remove ChatZum from Google Chrome:

1. Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
2. Click Tools.
3. Select Extensions.
4. Click Uninstall for the ChatZum.

To remove ChatZum from Internet Explorer (IE):

1. Select tools
2. Select “manage add-ons”
3. Right click and ChatZum and select disable.

I uninstalled it from my computer but it's still there and it dont show up anywhere if i do a search for it nor is it in my addons on firefox... Plasae help!

i cant delete it at all - it asks for an administrator password:-( i have tried my own password but nothing works

Answer no. 2 is the one to follow and it will fix it.

Thanks nepo, worked on Firefox on XP -- "about:newtab" patch didn't work but "about:blank" did. Thanks a lot, hopefully problem solved!!!

I could not find the google search b0x because Chatzum had taken over........it is called Search Safer toolbar and has no chatzum logo........hence very sneaky (and I don't like sneaky). Actually in that search box there is the drop down list of search engines. I discovered that there were "tons" of them in my list.

I tried changing it using the Manage search engines options. Okay you can remove Chatzum as search engine from the list (its called "search safer"....another sneaky attempt to hide themselves). But if you try getting google back on, you may have to also remove Yahoo as a search engine!!! these search engine wars are ridiculous.

So, I managed to get google back on.

The reason I hate Chatzum is that when your internet connection is down, it somehow makes things worse by not remembering the last URL you input. You then get a reject from the browser when you next try getting back on the internet. Chatzum creates a list of chatzum urls in the address box that is rejected by the server or internet. How stupid. Most other search engines don't have this problem . I would have reluctantly continued use of chatzum if there wasn't this glitch.

But I also hate the sneaky way it took over my browser without my permission. That is against all moral/ethical codes, and we might consider it a malware to be blocked by all browsers.
